THIS IS A CLEBURNE'S DIVISION EVENT, GEN. JOE WAY COMMANDING. ALL CLEBURNE'S DIVISION SAFETY RULES AND GUIDELINES ARE IN EFFECT.

Walk Ons will be welcome at this event. In order to plan amenities properly we ask that, if possible, you pre-register but we welcome everyone who would like to come.

All units must be willing to galvanize unless prior arrangements have been made.

We have campsites for everyone----campaign, family/garrison, mainstream and modern. Please specify your preference on the registration forms. Be advised that the campaign site has no modern intrusions including water station. A water station is located within a short walking distance of the campaign camp.

Period attire is a must in all camps except modern. All camps will maintain a peroid impression from Friday evening through the end of Sunday's battle. Please keep all modern anachronisms concealed in the camps.

Current negative coggins will be required on all equine animals entering the event. No paints, appaloosa or stallions.

Safety is a top priority at this event! The battles will be HOT all weekend so make sure that you bring ample powder supplies to last you through the weekend.

Overall military commander will be Gen. Joe Way. Confederate and Federal commanders will be announced as that information becomes available.

All persons who are willing to assist in School Day activities on Friday please contact Roy Jones at Sequoyah Caverns to make arrangements.

RULES OF CONDUCT FOR MISSIONARY RIDGE

The following rules shall serve as minimum standards of conduct expected of all member- units/organization and troops at the Battle of Missionary Ridge.

Only period uniforms, clothing, accoutrements, materials, etc. will be used. In general, military appearance will be that of the Army of Tennessee; firearms shall be of period correct type, reproduction or original common military arms (where deemed safe), no cartridge arms may be used on the Field (these arms are defined as original or reproduction arms based on those manufactured prior to 1865) . No skins or hides shall be allowed which are commonly classified as buckskins.

Dependents and civilians are welcome to participate in normal historical roles in proper attire, unless present as potential recruits.

Troops will follow all reasonable orders given to them by properly elected or designated Division officers and NCOs. Officers and NCOs shall be treated with the military courtesy due their rank and title.

Specialized Impressions or Personae shall not participate upon the Battle Field except through prior arrangement of the specific event and with the approval of the Military Command Staff in conjunction with the Event Organizer/Host units/organization. They are hereby assigned to the Special Impressions Branch and will serve under this Branch Commanders direction and with the approval of the Command Staff.

Vivandiere, Daughters of the Regiment and Cantoniere, serving undisguised in Military Uniform, et. al., will be assigned to the Special Impressions Branch. They will not take the field in battle except through the branch commander's direction within the battle scenarios for the event. They may be assigned to the Medical Branch according to the scenario or as the Special Impressions commander directs.
  1. NO ILLEGAL SUBSTANCES ALLOWED ON SITE. THIS IS A ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY.
  2. No excessive drinking will be permitted.
  3. All military commanders will be held liable for the actions of their troops, both on and off the field.
  4. There will be a civilian coordinator on site.
  5. ALL participants must be in period dress from 7 a.m. Saturday through Sunday after the battle. Anyone not attired in period dress will be asked to leave the period camps.
  6. No modern items are to open to public view. Camps will be patrolled by the provost to ensure maximum authenticity at all times.
  7. No cars will be allowed in camp after 10 a.m. Saturday until after the battle Sunday.
  8. NO modern glasses, watches, shoes or any other clothing item will be allowed.
  9. All military impressions should be of the 1863 period. See “Authenticity Guidelines” for further clarification.
  10. No unscripted hand to hand combat will be allowed.
  11. All troops not following orders from the respective commanders will be asked to leave the event.
  12. Each army and civilian camp will be patrolled by event and command staff to ensure authenticity at all times. No modern food containers, coolers or beverage containers will be allowed out in public view. All companies and participants that require the above conveniences must keep them hidden at all times during public hours and are strongly encouraged to do so at other times. This is to increase the quality of the event for reenactors and spectators alike. If a company violates this policy they will be subject to be removed from the event at the discretion of the staff.
  13. Those participants who portray barefooted soilders are permitted to do so, however, the event is in no way responsible for injuries caused by this portrayl.
